Hey there, everyone! My name is Ella, and I am a 9th grader at Montgomery High School in New Jersey, US. I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was little. I started my teaching journey in 5th grade and have taught ESL for almost three years. I am passionate about language art and am an award-winning writer. I am delighted that I can help other students to learn, especially those with inadequate access to education. Some hobbies of mine are drawing, crafting, playing the piano and flute, dancing, playing basketball, reading, and writing stories. I have won many awards in international and national art competitions and have been invited to play piano at Carnegie Hall in New York multiple times. I can’t wait to learn and have fun together with you!

Ella Wang, a 7th grader at Harrington Middle School in NJ, is a dedicated ESL teacher with two years of teaching experience. Ella’s students rave about her, and she always feels grateful to be able to help them improve their English. Ella is an avid reader and writer with a talent for language arts and is a top-scoring student who won the New Jersey Huaxia Chinese Speech Contest and the President's Award for Academic Achievement. In her free time, Ella enjoys horseback riding and competes with the IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association), as well as traditional and digital art.

Hello, my name is Brian Zhu, and I am an English teacher at UST (UStartTeaching) with 1.5 years of experience. I have a passion for teaching the English language and helping students improve their communication skills, and I also believe that learning should be enjoyable and engaging. I strive to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students can thrive and not feel like they wasted their time. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, going to the gym, and video games. I am excited to meet others who want to improve on their English language overall, and I look forward to working with my current and to-be students to achieve their language learning goals.

My name is Sahana Manikandan, and I am a 9th grader at Phillips Academy Andover in MA. My favorite subject is History and English- I am fascinated by them. I’ve been swimming competitively since I was a little girl and I am now an Eastern Zone level swimmer (a competition for the eastern region of the United States). Also, I play the Oboe - and have been invited to play in the esteemed Carnegie Hall in New York. I also know a little bit of Mandarin Chinese. I love learning new things.
I am very excited to teach you English. I understand learning a new language can be challenging because I’ve had experience with that. So I will ensure you get knowledge and opportunities that you want, enabling you to communicate with more people in the world. I look forward to having fun times together with you!

My name is Shivani Manikandan, and I am a rising senior attending Princeton Day School in New Jersey. I have been teaching ESL for almost three years and can’t wait to learn more about you. English is one of my favorites, and I am eager to help you improve it as well — so that you can communicate with and around the world.
I play two instruments and have won multiple awards, and I also know some Chinese (Mandarin). I am particularly interested in the applications of computer science and always look forward to trying new things in different areas. With my knowledge, I hope to give back to the community — I’ve done many community service projects for school and was the grade co-representative for community service. I also partake in multiple clubs at school, such as the CS Club, Science Meets Society Magazine, and more. Additionally, I cox for my club rowing team and have won several awards. We are going to learn and have fun together!
